Support for SVR4.2-style parallel builds has been added to "make"; this includes the "-B" and "-P" options as well as the ".MUTEX" special target. The "-w" option to suppress warnings has been added to "make". "make" now issues message numbers for use with the "help" command. "make" now accepts comments following "ifeq" and other conditionals. Recursive evaluation of directories with "sccs" for the "info", "tell", and "clean" sub-commands previously omitted some files and has been fixed.
An "-R" option has been added to the "sccs" command to support recursive operation on directory hierarchies. A manual page has been added for the "sccs" command. "make" now supports the GNU syntax for conditional macros ("target: variable=value"), parse-time conditionals ("ifeq (arg1, arg2)"), and functions ("$(function arguments)"). Text functions, file name functions, the shell function, and warning/error message functions are supplied. "make" can now retrieve data from SCCS s.files in the current directory.
Manual pages for most of the SCCS commands have
been added. A new manual page for "make" is
available. "make" can now use different shells for
POSIX and traditional mode. The "%G%" and "%H%"
keywords for "get" now omit leading zeros in month
and day numbers, as previous versions of SCCS did.
The tools have been ported to HP-UX and AIX.
