When saving a symmetrically encrypted .gpg file in longlines-mode, the line breaks are converted to hard returns. To replicate:
1) create a text files.
2) c-x epa-encrypt-flie using symmetric encryption with password (I haven't tested using key, only simple password)
3) Open file
4) M-x longlines mode
5) make minor edit
6) Save and quit (c-s, c-x)
When re-opening the file, the soft returns in the buffer have been converted to hard returns.
