I don't want link count, ACL, etc. All I need is file size and mtime. Which 'stat' is that? AFAICT, MinGW doesn't provide its own implementations, so a MinGW program will use 'stat' from MSVCRT.DLL, which AFAIK doesn't read the file at all. Are you sure you aren't using some 3rd-party library which does what you describe? Or maybe you are using MinGW64? or Cygwin? or MSYS2?
