Turbulence

This new stable release includes many interesting features: mod-python, child process, chroot, and other security settings. This release also fixes many bugs, improves internal regression tests, and adds a lot of documentation (administration and a developer manual).

A general update was done to make Turbulence work
with the next stable Vortex Library 1.1 series. It
also includes general work to make Turbulence run
properly on Windows. Several bug fixes and changes
were done to make Turbulence more usable.

This release includes many new features and bugfixes, mostly located at the Turbulence core and mod-sasl. An initial implementation for turbulence regression has been added. Now mod-sasl allows virtual hosting configuration, which allows you to configure auth-db associated to particular serverName configurations. mod-sasl has a new XML-RPC remote administration interface (SASL-RADMIN) which allows third party applications to perform SASL administrative tasks. A security update allows mod-sasl to store passwords hashed with MD5 and SHA-1.

This is the first official release. It allows the configuration of basic features such as ports, bind address, log files, max connections, and bad signal handling. It also includes two initial modules: mod-sasl and mod-tunnel. This release also includes one of the most important features for Turbulence, the profile path: an administrative mechanism that allows the user to choose which profiles can be used by remote peers and how they are sequenced, according to peer status, source address, previously created channels, and much more.
