This version features a lot of small updates over the
past year, including a status icon using the
freedesktop.org protocol for GNOME2/KDE3, nickname
highlighting in group chats, a Read Previous button in
normal messages, an updated XML parser, and a bunch
of bugfixes.
In this version, the Jabber library Gabber uses, jabberoo, has been updated to the latest version of the Jabber XML parsing library, libjudo. This fixes many XML parsing crashes, such as searching jabber.com's Jabber Users Directory and logging in and out of Jabber repeatedly. Gabber now supports invisibility, a new feature in Jabber which is currently only available on jabberd 1.4.2. There is also now support for SOCKS 4/5 and three types of HTTP Proxy. Several other changes were made.
Several bugfixes (including one which caused problems with GPG encrypting messages), compile support for gcc 3 on Linux and several other architectures where Gabber did not compile without patches before, and a rewrite of the normal message dialog.
Bugfixes to critical issues (such as crashes) and to non-critical issues dealing with message management were added. File transfer support, 'drag-n-drop' support, and translation updates were added.
The preference saving/loading and message
management backends were rewritten, which should
solve many problems people were having with
preferences and messages. Many other smaller
feature enhancements and bugfixes found their way
into this release as well.
