When I paste CJK characters into PuTTY, it works. With Tera Term, it doesn't. (2018-11-11 06:36 by daveg #82144)

Serial port connection to embedded firmware console.

When I paste CJK characters into PuTTY, it works. For example, if I paste 嘉嘲嘴 info PuTTY, it sends that UTF-8 character sequence to the console, the embedded firmware echos it, and the embedded system's OLED display shows it.

On Tera Term, it appears to change all CJK characters from the paste buffer to ? characters. So if I type 嘉嘲嘴, I see ??? echo on the console and on the embedded system's OLED display.

I've selected UTF-8 in the Setup->Terminal, both Tx and Rx. I've also selected UTF-8 in the Setup->General menu. I'd prefer to use Tera Term, but after hours of trying to get this to work, it looks like switching back to PuTTY.

Could you please check locale setting of terminal?
Please set the "language string" for the language what you want to display.
https://ttssh2.osdn.jp/manual/en/usage/unicode.html
Note: Now only "locale" is used by Tera Term, "CodePage" is not used.

I tried setting the Terminal->locale field to "chinese", "chinese-simplified", and "chs". Nothing works. They all convert 嘉嘲嘴 to ???
