GLSL shaders now support normal mapping glossiness, specular mapping, and soft self-shadowing on starships. Initial multiplayer support is included, with the ability to host your own servers for online play. The physics system has been revamped to support thousands of ships at once, giving the star systems a more lively feel, with lots of civilian craft. Support for DXT1 and DXT5 textures has been added, so load times are much smaller. esd and arts configuration can be avoided with this version, as it has an integrated soundserver.
A Superlinear Faster-Than-Light Spec Drive for real time
transit was added. Some new base and starship art was
added. There is a better mission system and a storyline
campaign.
A better AI and a new UI were included. The
dynamic universe was changed, better models and
animations were included, and star systems were
added from NASA data. Stars are now positioned
correctly with proper brightness. Meshes are now
animated, point defense works, better bartenders
were provided, ECM was improved, a dynamic news
system was included, rescue missions were added,
an entirely new upgrading system that tracks
parts was implemented, and more.
This version fixes the source RPM's default path, works around a segfault when using the December 11 nVIDIA drivers, fixes problems with repairing merchant ships causing NaN mass, fixes problems with repair costing money, and fixes problems with the bounty mission spawning too close to the jump.
