New features include full HTML composing support (including inlined message and sound), HTTP compression support, an improved POP3 implementation, forward/autoreply for virtual users, use of a Web cache on the results of some operations, and a new syntax 'DEFAULT_...' in openwebmail.conf. The bug that caused 'Too many open files' or 'file lock' errors in persistence mode under heavy load has been fixed.
The new features include new quota support, daylight saving time support, auth-guess default language, Easter day support in the calendar, and a lot of new options (including ow_holidaysdir, forced_ssl_login, spool_limit, header_pluginfile, footer_pluginfile, enable_history, and vdomain_mailbox_command). The bug in auth_unix*.pl, and auth_pam.pl that caused changing passwords to fail has been fixed, as well as many other minor bugs.
Persistent running support with SpeedyCGI (5x-10x SPEEDUP), a new virtual user management module openwebmail-vdomain.pl, and a new authentication module auth_vdomain.pl for vm-pop3d+postfix system were added. New iconsets (XPred/XPgreen/XPblue/XPpurple), personal dictionary support in spellcheck, and webdisk_rootptah support were also added. The display code for calendar dayview was rewritten,thumbnail support in openwebmail-tool.pl was added, a security fix was made for a serious bug where all local users can execute their Perl script as root, and many minor bugfixes were made.
A new webdisk module was added, supporting basic file operation like copy, move, delete, online archive listing/compression/decompression, thumbnail, file download/upload, file name/content search, and attachment copying between messages and webdisk. SSH terminal support, calendar color event support, and shout-cut key support were added. The openwebmail-tool.pl utility was improved. A serious secuity bug was fixed. Many minor enhancement and bugfixes were made.
Minor modifications were made to cover a serious bug of tell() in perl 5.8 that
may causes data loss. The bug which prevented own from automatically reindexing
under perl 5.8 was fixed. A problem with the ":" character in POP3 usernames
and passwords was corrected. Some new options were added to
openwebmail.conf.default for easier customization. Some minor bugfixes were
made. Sites using RedHat 8.0 or perl 5.8 should upgrade to this release as soon
as possible.
