Support for virus scanning using clamav, spam
checking with SpamAssassin, spamlearn support,
background mail filtering, MS-TNEF support, lightbar

two security fixes. There were also many other minor
improvements and bugfixes.
This release features a largely modified maildb.pl that fixed the 'inconsistence db index' and 'mail filter i/o error' problems, a new auth_ldap_vpopmail.pl auth module, support for text/reiched content types, POP3 over SSL, and check_expire and change_smbpasswd in auth_unix.pl, an improved mail parser, a fix for the timezone bug when composing a new message, two security fixes, and many other minor improvements and bugfixes.
This release adds a system scripts hierarchy rearrangement, moving user
files from ~user/mail/.* to ~user/.openwebmail/ for better compatibility
with IMAP servers, a code cleaning and performance improvement (3-10x
speedup in folder indexing, 30% speedup in mail filtering, 95x speedup
in folder writing over NFS), DHTML calendar popup windows support,
MSWord attachment previewing, improved spellchecking, and many other
improvements and bugfixes. There's a new demo site at www.postman.net,

A new authentication module, auth_nis.pl, was
added for NIS/YP system. Some speedup was achieved
by caching all config file in memory, with a
heavily rewritten readconf() routine, and by using
IGNORE instead of waiting for a CHLD signal. This
release also fixes the following problems: an
insecure dependency error on some platform with
new perl 5.8, a problem with DST time auto switch
one month late, and the bug in addressbook in
which the ampersand ("&") and comma (",")
characters were always stripped out.
New features include symlink support in webdisk, the
ability to show HTML as text, a bad format from filter, an
enhanced openwebmail-vdomain.pl, userstat.pl, and
some new options in openwebmail.conf. This release also
fixes a problem with the update/read/lock error in DBM
access, the 'xxx out of range" bug in calendar, the DST
time one hour shift bug in auto mode, the personal
dictionary error in spellcheck, and the session timeout
warning problem.
