This version is now available in a pure 64-bit compilation. Runit is now used as the default init scheme. A simple and powerful package system was added. Linux-libre 2.6.34.7, the GNU C Compiler Collection 4.5.1, and the GNU C library 2.12.1, Xorg 7.6, Xfce 4.8pre2, icewm, scrotwm, GNU IceCat 3.6.13, Tor, Polipo, and the development version of Gnash are included. The Bluetooth subsystem was added. Printing support and scanner support were improved. This version comes with Java through Icedtea6.
This is a preview (featuring Xfce 4.8pre1) of the incoming stable version after a long period of development. The complete changes will be announced for the final version.
The installer includes a better detection method for the CD-ROM. The option to install GRUB in a root partition is back again. The installation of the packages is slightly faster with clzip-1.0 and lzip-1.10. This release comes with Runit as the default init scheme, Linux-libre kernel 2.6.32.11, OpenSSL 1.0.0, GCC 4.4.3, and more. Curl and Expat were added to complement Git 1.7.0.4.
