A compiler bug in some versions of GCC has been worked around, and
strict adherence to resource naming standards is now enforced. Apart
from that, this release adds only minor bugfixes (camera stuck in free
mode), tweaks (wall texture), and configurability (menu key and smart
camera).
The 0.2.8 series, codenamed Artemis, introduces arenas of arbitrary shape, nonorthogonal driving directions, and game recording facilities. The functionality of the in-game administration interface has been extended to all console commands. There are countless bugfixes and some performance improvements.
This release includes fixed for security issues that were uncovered recently, as well as fixes for various annoying bugs and improvements to the network code.
This release aims mainly at giving players greater control
over each other. You can now silence other players and
issue polls to kick unfriendly players from the server. The
"huge chat" exploit has been disabled by truncating chat
messages both on the server and on the clients.
Additionally, the long sought-after option to display the
player names above the cycles so you can identify them
easier has been implemented.
This release disables the fullscreen toggle and
other key bindings while in chat mode. It also
fixes a crash which occurred when entering the
team menu while in observer mode.
